I am extremely pleased to announce that I have been awarded the Guild of Photographers biggest accolade - "National Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011" and also "National Photographer of the Year 2011". To win these top prizes, I submitted 3 images every month for 12 months, judged by the Guild Panel who are respected throughout the profession for their wide experience and expertise. I am thrilled to have won this, it is definitely the highlight of my long career!
I have also been awarded the prestigious title of 'Craftsman of Wedding Photography' by the Guild of Wedding Photographers - there are only 15 Craftsman in the UK - well earned after 14 years & over 400 weddings!

"As a wedding photographer, my aim has always been to move away from formal posed portraits that I feel belong to another generation. I prefer to photograph the wedding as an occasion, a story unfolding from before the ceremony through to the fun of the reception, capturing the natural rather than the posed.
Of course, I do take a small selection of pre-arranged shots of the Bride and Groom, wedding party and family, but after that I let you get on with enjoying yourselves while I blend into the background capturing the emotion of the wedding as it unfolds in front of me. The idea is to photograph what actually happens at the wedding rather than interrupting it and taking endless group shots!"
Why choose a female photographer?
There are many reasons, but I thought I would list just a few:
1. Getting Ready. Do you really want a man leaping round your bedroom with a camera when you and your bridesmaids are in your undies, having a lovely girlie time?
2. Picture style. Reading women's magazines gives me an understanding of the sorts of picture styles that are fashionable at the moment. I know when it's important to get a shot of a Jimmy Choo label or the particular detail of a dress!
3. I've been a bride myself. So much of the day has been a result of meticulous planning and careful choices of the all the details that make the difference. I know how much agonising goes into the make-up, the hair, the colour theme, the flowers, the table arrangements etc. I know why it's important and how to capture it all.
4. Emotion. As a woman, I am more led by my emotions and therefore more tuned into the emotion on the day, ready with my camera (and often a tear in my eye) to record it all.
